At least eleven people were killed and 10 others injured in a road accident in Chhattisgarh last night. A mini-truck carrying more than 25 persons collided with a truck.
The accident took place near Khamariya village on Balodabazar- Bhatapara State Highway. The persons were returning to their village after attending a family function.
The Injured have been admitted to Balodabazar and Bhatapara district hospitals.
“In the road accident that happened last night, 11 people including four children died, 10 injured people were admitted to Raipur Hospital,” senior police officer Siddharth Baghel told the media. The victims were returning home after attending a family event in Arjuni area.
A case has been registered regarding the accident and the police has ordered to find out the cause. Road accidents are common in India. Overloaded vehicles, dilapidated roads and careless driving often lead to road accidents. According to a statistic, about 150,000 people die in 500,000 road accidents in India every year.
