US media outlets say Senior Biden administration health and medical officials are under discussion on the possibility of calling for booster shots for weeks and around an agreement that fully vaccinated people should get extra Covid booster shots eight months after becoming fully vaccinated.
The Biden administration is expected to announce that Americans who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 should receive an extra booster shot to ensure continued protection.
The booster third shot would be administered beginning in mid- to late September for the fully vaccinated Americans eight months after the second dose of the vaccine was received but the plan is under discussion and yet to receive authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration, according to the US news outlets citing the source familiar with the discussion.
Most Americans received either the two-dose Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, while others were given the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine.
