In the early morning of Sunday, a fire broke out on a ferry carrying 65 passengers in the central Bohol province of the Philippines, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
PCG spokesperson Armando Balilo stated that the fire occurred at around 4:30 am local time (2030 GMT) on the M/V Esperanza Star, which was heading toward Bohol from the municipality of Sikijor in the central Philippines.
The ferry, with a total of 120 individuals on board, including 65 passengers and 55 crew members, was engulfed in flames. However, no casualties have been reported so far, as communicated by the authorities.
The PCG is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
