Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin tested negative after a drug test she took following the video footage that surfaced on the internet that showed Marin partying with her friends.
“Drug test taken from Prime Minister Sanna Marin on 19 August 2022 did not reveal the presence of drugs,” adding the results were signed by a doctor, media outlets reported citing a statement from Marin’s office.
In the video posted to social media, Marin, 36, is seen dancing and singing with five other people — including the Finnish singer Alma — in a private home.
At one point in the footage, she is seen on her knees with her arms behind her head while lip-synching to a song. It’s unclear when the party took place.
Marin, who became Finland’s youngest-ever prime minister when she was elected in 2019, said she was “disappointed” that the footage became public, but maintained she did nothing wrong.
Earlier, Marin told a press conference that she had taken a drug test, the results of which will be available next week.
Marin said that she did not use any kind of drugs even in her teenage years.
Prime Minister Marin took the drug test after the opposition Party leader called on her to voluntarily take a drug test during an interview with Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.
