Erica Robin, a 24-year-old rising model from Karachi, has made history by becoming the first woman from Pakistan to be crowned as “Miss Universe Pakistan 2023”. She will now represent her country at the prestigious Miss Universe pageant to be held in El Salvador later this year.

Erica Robin won the title at a glamorous ceremony held in the Maldives on September 14, 2023. She beat out four other finalists, who were Hira Inam from Lahore, Jessica Wilson from Rawalpindi, Pakistan-American Malika Alvi from Pennsylvania, and Sabrina Wasim. Erica Robin impressed the judges and the audience with her stunning looks, elegant style, and confident personality.

In her acceptance speech, Erica Robin expressed her gratitude and excitement, saying, “I am honored and humbled to be the first-ever Miss Universe Pakistan, and I want to highlight the beauty of Pakistan.” She added that she wants to showcase the rich culture and the warmth of the Pakistani people, which are often overlooked by the media.

Erica Robin’s journey in the modeling industry began in January 2020, when she appeared on the cover of DIVA Magazine Pakistan. She then became the assistant manager at Flow Digital, a leading digital marketing agency in Pakistan. She graduated from St. Patrick’s Girls High School in Karachi in 2014.

Erica Robin’s achievement as Miss Universe Pakistan 2023 is a remarkable feat for Pakistan, which has a controversial and complicated history with beauty pageants.

The first beauty pageant for Pakistani women was launched in 2002 by Sonia Ahmed under the name of Miss Canada Pakistan. It was later renamed as Miss Pakistan World and moved to Pakistan in 2019. The pageant has faced criticism and opposition from some religious conservatives and government officials, who view it as immoral and un-Islamic. In 2006, Mariyah Moten became the first Pakistani woman to participate in an international bikini beauty pageant, Miss Bikini of the Universe, held in China. She sparked outrage from Muslim leaders and Pakistani officials, who denounced her as a disgrace to the country.

Erica Robin said she is aware of the challenges and risks she faces as Miss Universe Pakistan 2023, but she is determined to pursue her dreams and inspire other Pakistani women. She said she hopes to bring positive change and awareness to her country through her platform. She also said she is looking forward to competing with other talented and beautiful women from around the world at the Miss Universe pageant. She said she believes that beauty is not only about appearance, but also about intelligence, compassion, and courage.
