(GNB Desk): Oscar-nominated actor Elliot Page will become the first transgender man to star on the front cover of Time magazine’s when the latest edition goes on sale on Friday.

Page was nominated for various awards for Oscar-winning 2007 independent film ‘Juno’, who announced he was trans in December.

Page came out as a transgender in December last year. The actor had taken to social media to make the announcement. Last month, Portner shared a loving message for Page after the announcement. “I am so proud of @elliotpage,” the Broadway Dance Center teacher wrote on Instagram.

Elliot Page wrote on Instagram at the time that he could not “begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self”.

“With deep respect for those who came before me, gratitude for those who have supported me & great concern for the generation of trans youth we must all protect, please join me and decry anti-trans legislation, hate & discrimination in all its forms, Elliot tweeted.

“My privilege has allowed me to have resources to get through and to be where I am today, and of course I want to use that privilege and platform to help in the ways I can,” he told the magazine.

When asked how it feels to be where he is now, Page described it as, “This feeling of true excitement and deep gratitude to have made it to this point in my life, mixed with a lot of fear and anxiety.”

“I had a lot of time on my own to really focus on things that I think, in so many ways, unconsciously, I was avoiding,” said Page.

“I was finally able to embrace being transgender and letting myself fully become who I am.”

Elliot Page has filed for divorce from his wife and choreographer Emma Portner after three years of marriage.

Page is widely known for his roles in ‘Inception’, ‘Juno’, ‘The Tracey Fragments’, ‘Whip It’, ‘Super’, and ‘Tallulah’. The actor was nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Critics’ Choice Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in ‘Juno’. He was last seen in Netflix’s web series ‘The Umbrella Academy’.
