In the early hours of Sunday morning, a tragic shooting unfolded near the Kennedy Recreation Center in Washington D.C., as reported by WUSA-TV. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that the incident occurred around 3 a.m. EDT at the intersection of 7th Street and P St. Northwest.

Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll, during a news conference, revealed that all victims were adults, with two pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of the other victims, who were taken to area hospitals, remains unknown.

The circumstances leading to the shooting are still unclear, and authorities have not determined how many shooters were involved. CNN reported that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The Kennedy Recreation Center, a facility managed by Washington’s Department of Parks and Recreation, has been closed for improvements since August, as per NBC News. Despite this, the area remains an active part of the community.

In a recent update, police announced they are searching for one suspect. The department has issued a plea for public assistance: “We’re asking anyone who may have any information related to this incident or may have witnessed it to contact the Metropolitan Police Department,” stated Carroll.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the resolution of this heinous crime.
