Dangerously cold in the US on Christmas Eve

Snow, dangerous cold, rain, and cold winds have affected life in the US on Christmas Eve. This year’s Christmas, those who are going to visit their relatives far away and those who went on vacation are stuck on the road due to cold. At least 18 people died so far from the brutal cold. Also, more than 755,000 homes have lost electricity due to the storm.

Meteorologists predict that Americans will face the following weather conditions this Christmas:
    • Cold for many: It will be dangerously cold this weekend with cold air across much of the central and eastern US. “Life-threatening freezing temperatures and dangerously cold winds will create a potentially life-threatening hazard for stranded travelers,” the National Weather Service warned Saturday morning.

    • Record temperatures in the South: Atlanta and Tallahassee, Florida, were forecast to have the coldest high temperatures on record for Dec. 24, according to the weather service.

    • Brutal cold elsewhere: Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are expected to have their coldest days on Christmas Eve on Saturday. Washington, D.C. will feel its second coldest on Christmas Eve. Before this, the first cold weather occurred in 1989. New York is set to experience its coldest Christmas Eve since 1906. Chicago is expected to return to above freezing but still experience the coldest Christmas Eve since 1983.
