During a press conference, Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police announced that Danelo Cavalcante, a convicted murderer who fled from a high-security prison in Virginia two weeks ago, was apprehended by authorities on Wednesday morning. Remarkably, the capture was swift and trouble-free as a K9 unit exposed Cavalcante concealed under a heap of leaves and wood. He also mentioned that further charges for the double murderer are currently under discussion with the district attorney’s office.

Cavalcante, 35, was serving a life sentence for killing his ex-wife and her lover in 2019. He managed to escape from the Red Onion State Prison on August 31 by using a makeshift rope and climbing over the fence. He then stole a car and fled the scene.

The authorities launched a massive manhunt for Cavalcante, who was considered armed and dangerous. They also warned the public not to approach him or try to apprehend him by themselves.

Cavalcante was finally located and arrested in Fairfax, Virginia, after a tip from an anonymous caller. The caller reported seeing a suspicious man matching Cavalcante’s description near a gas station. The police arrived at the scene and confirmed his identity. They surrounded him and ordered him to surrender. Cavalcante initially resisted and tried to run away, but he was quickly subdued and taken into custody.

The authorities expressed their relief and gratitude for the successful capture of Cavalcante. They praised the cooperation and coordination of various law enforcement agencies and the public in the search operation. They also expressed their condolences and sympathy to the families of Cavalcante’s victims.

Cavalcante is now facing additional charges of escape, theft, and resisting arrest. He will be transferred back to the Red Onion State Prison and placed in solitary confinement. He will also lose any privileges or benefits he had as an inmate. He is expected to appear in court soon to face his new charges.
