Washington D.C. (GNB): Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is urging people to avoid the downtown area during pro-Trump rallies this week.

“I am asking Washingtonians and those who live in the region to stay out of the downtown area on Tuesday and Wednesday and not to engage with demonstrators who come to our city seeking confrontation, and we will do what we must to ensure all who attend remain peaceful, Washington D.C.”,  Mayor Muriel Bowser said.

In a statement Sunday, Mayor Muriel Bowser said all Metropolitan Police Department officers would be required to work on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bowser also confirmed at a press conference on Monday that the National Guard will be assisting with crowd management at the protests beginning Tuesday. She added, the National Guard will be unarmed.

The advisory comes as Pro-Trump are planning to rally in D.C. when Congress meets Jan. 6 to certify Biden’s win. President Trump has claimed that widespread voter fraud tossed the victory to President-elect Joseph R. Biden.

President Trump already confirmed and twitted he will be joining the rally.
