Former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, who is also the operator of Gorkha Media, has been arrested in Kathmandu in connection with a cooperative fraud case involving the misuse of savings funds, according to police sources.
A parliamentary investigation committee had earlier accused Joshi, along with Gorkha Media’s GB Rai, Kumar Ramtel, and former managing director Ravi Lamichhane, of misappropriating cooperative funds. The committee had recommended legal action against all those involved under existing laws.
According to sources, Ravi Lamichhane, who is the chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and was the managing director at the time, has been discussing the situation with his party members at the party office. It is reported that several security personnel have been seen around the office, increasing speculation about further developments in the case. Lamichhane remains under police surveillance, according to sources.
