The Taliban on Sunday declared the war in Afghanistan over after taking control of the presidential palace in Kabul.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani left the country on Sunday saying to avoid clashes with the Taliban that would endanger millions of Kabul residents.
Shortly after Ghani’s departure, Taliban commanders took control of the presidential palace in Kabul, saying they expected a total handover of power.
Taliban assured that all embassies, diplomatic missions, institutions and residences of foreign nationals in Kabul will not face any danger, all should be in Kabul with full confidence, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said in a tweet.

Zabihullah Mujahid said in another tweet that Kabul is under the control of the city, special units of the Islamic Emirate have been deployed in different parts of the city to provide security. “The situation in Kabul is normal, the Mujahideen are busy providing security. Citizens should be sure,” he said in a video posted on his Twitter handle.
