(GNB Desk): President-elect Joe Biden in an address Thursday evening will unveil a $1.9 trillion economic package plan to provide financial assistance to individuals, businesses, and state and local governments.

President Trump signed off on a $900 billion coronavirus relief bill in December end , that provided $600 stimulus checks to most Americans after weeks of negotiating and debate. Biden, once inaugurated on Jan. 20, has promised to support a new economic package that would deliver larger stimulus checks and financial relief to individuals and businesses struggling amid the pandemic’s economic fallout.

The 1.9 trillion packages will include $415 billion on fighting COVID-19, $1 trillion on direct aid to individuals and families and another $440 billion in aid to businesses, according incoming Biden administration who briefed reporters on the package.

The plan would provide $1,400 in additional stimulus checks, bringing the combined total with the $600 payment approved in December to $2,000, extend key unemployment programs from mid-March through the end of September and increase weekly additional unemployment payments from $300 to $400.

Biden also proposes an additional $160 billion for a national vaccine program, including $20 billion for distribution, and an additional $50 billion for expanded testing.
