From tomorrow, no Indian movies will be screened in cinema halls within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has announced that it will be prohibited to screen any Indian movie in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City from tomorrow until the objectionable parts are removed from the Indian movie Adipurush.
Balen Shah, the mayor of the metropolitan city, posted on social media and said, “Until the objectionable parts of the Indian movie Adipurush are removed, it is prohibited to show any Indian movie in Kathmandu metropolis from tomorrow.”
Mayor Balen has written a letter to the Ministry of Information and Technology on Friday and said that even when he asked them to remove the objectionable part from Adipurush from the diplomatic level in India too, they did not budge.
Balen had warned that the objectionable part from Adipurush should be removed not only in Nepal but also in India within three days and if not removed, all Indian films would be banned in the metropolis.
Mayor Balen’s decision has been widely welcomed. More than one hundred and three thousand people have liked his Facebook post welcoming his decision.
A Facebook user welcomed Balen’s decision and wrote – “He should know that Nepal is a free country that has never been a slave!” This freedom is not by grace, but by fighting with the world’s greatest power! It is our duty to respect and protect it! Go Ahead!”
