    VIDEO: At least 8 killed, 28 injured in Perm State University Shooting- Authorities

    At least eight people have been killed and dozens injured after a student opened fire at a university campus in western Siberia, Russian authorities said Monday.

    Video published to social media shows students jumping out of second-floor windows to flee the gunman at Perm State University in the city of Perm some 1,300 kilometers east of Moscow.

    In the video, the shooter can be seen holding a gun while walking into the university campus in a black uniform with a helmet. 

    Russia’s Investigative Committee said that eight people have been killed and 28 injured, several of whom have been hospitalized in varying conditions.

    The Investigative Committee said police shot and injured the suspected shooter after he resisted arrest and he is now being treated for his wounds in the hospital. The committee has opened a criminal murder case following the attack.

    According to the Russian Investigative Committee, on September 20, a student, being on the territory of one of the buildings of the Perm State National Research University, opened fire at others from a hunting smooth-bore rifle. As a result of the crime, 8 people were killed. 28 victims sought medical help, some of them were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

    The suspect has already been identified, the committee said.  

    “During his arrest in connection with the resistance, he was wounded, after which he was taken to a medical facility. The investigation collects characterizing materials about the suspect. It is known that he acquired the gun in May of this year,” the Russian Investigative committee said in a statement.

    The committee has opened a criminal murder case following the attack.
