Hundreds of flights in the US have been grounded after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported a technical problem with its pre-flight safety information system on Wednesday.
Officials have informed that this outage is a technical problem in FAA’s NOTAM (Notice to Air Mission) system. The Notice to Air Mission system alerts pilots and other personnel about flight conditions and other delays at airports across the country with pre-flight safety notifications.
The FAA informed that they are currently working to restore their information in the air mission system.
“We are performing a final validation check and reloading the system now,” the FAA said in a tweet. The FAA said operations in the National Airspace System were affected.
“We will make frequent updates as we make progress,” the FAA said in a tweet.
The FAA has ordered all airlines to suspend all domestic departures until 9 a.m. ET.
The FAA said flights are resuming now at New Jersey’s Newark Liberty and Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airports and will resume at other airports at 9 a.m. ET.
About 400 flights across the US have been canceled so far due to this technical issue.
