Can you imagine that even a cigarette butt can identify a killer, and that too after 52 years? This has been true in America !

A small cigarette butt has solved the mystery of a murder that happened 52 years ago in America. This research theory of the Washington police has now become a topic of discussion around the world. Until now, the murder case has become the most mysterious in America. No one could have imagined that the murder mystery could be solved after such a long time. In fact, the killer was so clever that he did not leave any evidence after the murder. But with the help of a small piece of cigarette, the experts, in this case, have been able to reach the killer. Washington police have been praised around the world since the case was solved.

About 52 years ago, a 24-year-old female Vermont school teacher in America was killed by an unknown person. But the killer left no evidence. Even after many years of investigation, the police could not find any evidence. But when the police started investigating with the help of a cigarette butt near the teacher’s body, the way to reach the killer was opened. This cigarette butt was recovered from the teacher’s apartment, which helped investigators identify the neighbor who lived in the flat above the same house as the killer.

Investigators say the teacher strangled the woman to death after an argument with his wife. But by the time the police discovered the mysterious murder case and got to the killer, he had already died many years ago.

DNA testing of a cigarette case recovered by Burlington police led investigators to the killers. On the night of July 1971, a teacher named Rita Curran was murdered in a span of 70 minutes, according to the investigating officers. According to the police, Curran fought hard to defend herself, but she was strangled to death.

She was murdered around midnight on July 19 and was found strangled, beaten and sexually assaulted, according to the reports.

The murder caused ripples of fear in a time when many Burlington residents left front doors unlocked, and the killer remained a mystery for decades, despite the police looking into hundreds of tips.

The only significant piece of evidence in the case was a cigarette butt, which was found near Koran’s body. The suspect, identified as William DeRoos, had left his apartment that night for a “cool down walk.” He was 31 at the time. After returning from his walk, he warned his wife not to tell anyone for two weeks that he had gone out that night.

After murdering the teacher Curran, the killer, William DeRoos, went to Thailand to become a monk but later returned to the United States, according to police investigations. Police say William DeRoos died of a drug overdose in San Francisco in 1986.
