Washington D.C (GNB): President Donald Trump said in a Tweet on Friday that he will not be attending President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20.

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th”, he twitted Friday.

The move comes as Democrats call for the president’s removal for inciting an armed insurrection against America. A growing number of lawmakers demanding his removal from the office.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has demanded Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office. She said- “he incited an armed insurrection against America.”

President Trump has only 13 days left in the White House, but growing number of lawmakers want his presidency over sooner. They are demanding his impeachment due to deadly violence on Capitol Hill yesterday.

“Yesterday, American democracy came under attack — but we refuse to be bullied into abandoning our duty to work”, Pelosi said.

Pelosi joined a growing number of lawmakers in demanding either through the 25th Amendment or impeachment to remove President Trump from office.

She warned he could do further harm to the country: “Any day can be a horror show for America.”

“If the vice president and the Cabinet do not act, the Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment,” Pelosi said in a press conference Thursday.

Democrats may initiate the process to impeach the president, with a possible vote next week.

The US Constitution also allows the vice-president to step up if the president is unable to perform his duties owing to mental or physical illness.

President Donald Trump condemned the violent supporters who stormed the nation’s Capitol Wednesday. He also conceded the victory of Joe Biden, in a short video message to the nation Thursday night.

Five people have lost their lives in connection to the riot, including Brian Sicknick, a US Capitol Police officer.
