    U.S.Congress formally certified Joe Biden’s election victory, Trump accepted defeat

    Washington D.C. (GNB): Democrats Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the 2020 election, U.S. Congress formally certified early on Thursday morning.

    U.S Congress announced the decision after the pro-Trump mob storms US Capitol in a bid to overturn 2020 election.

    The announcement was made by Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar on early morning Thursday.

    Vice President Mike Pence then repeated the totals first for president, then for vice president.

    Biden will take President Donald Trump’s place in the White House on Jan. 20.

    Who Is Joe Biden?

    Joe Biden briefly worked as an attorney before turning to politics. He became the fifth-youngest U.S. senator in history as well as Delaware’s longest-serving senator. His 2008 presidential campaign never gained momentum, but Democratic nominee Barack Obama selected him as his running mate, and Biden went on to serve two terms as the 47th vice president of the United States. In 2017, at the close of his administration, Obama presented Biden with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Two years later Biden launched his campaign for U.S. president and is the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee. Learn more

    Trump accepted defeat: Trump has publicly accepted Biden’s victory first time and agreed to a peaceful transfer of power. President Trump has said he disagrees with the result but has committed to an orderly transition on January 20.

    On Trump’s behalf, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino tweeted – Statement by President Trump said: “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless, there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!”

    Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., announced that she’s drawing up articles of impeachment, tweeting: “We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath.”
