British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a new national lockdown for England with people instructed to “Stay at Home” until at least mid-February to combat a fast-spreading new version of the coronavirus.
All schools and colleges will close to most pupils and switch to remote learning until the middle of February.
Johnson said the country is at “a critical moment,” with cases rising rapidly in every part of the country. PM urged people to follow the new rules immediately amid surging virus cases and patient numbers.
Johnson twitted after announcement “Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives”.
