The disappearance of 28-year-old Mamta Kafle Bhatt has drawn significant attention since she went missing in July, just months after moving to the U.S. from Nepal for an arranged marriage with Naresh Bhatt. Her absence has been particularly distressing as she missed her baby daughter’s first birthday, prompting family members to travel from Nepal to care for the child.

Naresh Bhatt, her husband, was arrested last month on charges of concealing a body, with police alleging that he is responsible for her death. Blood was found in the primary bedroom and bathroom of their home, raising further suspicions.

On Thursday, Naresh Bhatt appeared in court, where a judge granted a defense motion to waive a grand jury, paving the way for a speedy trial. The trial is now expected to proceed within the coming months.

Ongoing Search Efforts in Manassas Park

The Manassas Park Police Department, in collaboration with the Prince William County Police Department’s Search and Rescue Team, continues its active investigation into Mamta Kafle’s disappearance. According to a recent press release, authorities have conducted thorough searches in several areas, including the Blooms Crossing Community, Manassas Christian School, Camp Carondelet, and parts of Blooms Park.

These locations were identified following a detailed review of newly obtained records, which detectives believe could provide valuable leads in the case. The police urge the public to remain patient and refrain from offering additional assistance, as the search continues. To date, no evidence has been found during the search efforts.

The Manassas Park Police Department has assured the public that any new developments will be promptly shared. Anyone with information regarding Mamta Kafle Bhatt’s whereabouts or details related to the case is encouraged to contact the department at 703-361-1136. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Manassas City/Manassas Park Crime Solvers hotline at 703-330-0330 or via their website at manassascrimesolvers.org.
