In a devastating incident, seven individuals lost their lives, and 18 sustained injuries in a tragic road accident in Pakistan’s south Sindh province. The mishap occurred in the Kashmore district of the province, involving a collision between a passenger van and a truck on a main highway, as reported by the XINHUA news agency.

The state-run Rescue 1122 provided details on the incident, stating that the accident transpired on Monday when the van’s driver, hampered by low visibility caused by dense fog, collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

Rescue teams swiftly responded to the distress call, managing to shift the injured individuals to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the severity of the crash left five of them in critical condition, adding to the gravity of the situation.

The region’s current weather conditions are contributing to a rise in accidents, with fluctuations in weather patterns leading to the emergence of dense fog during both morning and night hours. This has prompted certain sections of highways to temporarily close due to limited visibility.

Authorities in Pakistan are grappling with the challenges posed by these weather conditions, issuing guidelines for drivers to exercise utmost caution while navigating the affected areas. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to safety measures, especially during adverse weather conditions, to prevent such tragic accidents on the road. As investigations into the specifics of the accident continue, the community mourns the loss of lives and hopes for the swift recovery of those injured in this unfortunate event.
