Manchester City extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a 6-1 demolition of Bournemouth at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts were unstoppable from the start, with Jeremy Doku scoring one goal and setting up four others in a sensational display of skill and creativity.

At the age of 21 years and 161 days, that makes him the youngest player in Premier League history with five goal involvements in a single game, as well as the youngest player to assist four goals in a single game.

The Belgian winger opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a sublime curler from the edge of the box, leaving Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers no chance.

Three minutes later, Doku turned provider for Bernardo Silva, who doubled the lead with a low shot from inside the area.

The game was effectively over in the 37th minute, when Doku’s corner found Manuel Akanji, who headed home the third goal for the Citizens.

Bournemouth showed some signs of life in the second half, but they were unable to cope with the relentless pressure from Manchester City.

Doku continued his impressive performance with another assist in the 64th minute, this time for Phil Foden, who slotted the ball into the bottom corner from close range.

The visitors got a consolation goal in the 74th minute, when Luis Sinisterra pounced on a loose ball and fired a powerful shot past Ederson.

However, Manchester City had the final say in the closing stages, with Silva scoring his second goal of the game in the 83rd minute, following a neat pass from Doku.

Nathan Ake completed the rout in the 88th minute, heading in a cross from Joao Cancelo.

The result means that Manchester City have 27 points from 11 games, one point ahead of second-placed Tottenham, who have a game in hand.

Bournemouth remain in the relegation zone with seven points, four points adrift of safety.
