    Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, has officially announced her bid for re-election to Congress in a heartfelt message to her constituents. Pelosi, who has represented California’s 12th congressional district since 1987, reaffirmed her commitment to representing San Francisco values and working tirelessly for the betterment of the next generation.

    Pelosi, 83-year-old has has served as the representative of San Francisco since 1987. She made history as the first woman to be elected twice as the Speaker of the House.

    In her video statement, Pelosi emphasized the core principles she has championed throughout her distinguished political career, stating, “It is my honor to represent our City and our San Francisco values in the Congress: jobs with dignity, human rights, reproductive justice, LGBTQ equality, respect for immigrants, and care for our planet and for each other.”

    Speaking about the three most critical issues facing Congress, Pelosi’s unwavering focus on the welfare of children shone through. She reiterated, “our children; our children; our children” as her top priorities. These encompassed their health, education, the housing and economic security of their families, environmental sustainability, and creating a world of peace and inclusivity.

    Pelosi’s dedication to children’s well-being has translated into a legislative record that includes significant accomplishments, such as the passage of the Affordable Care Act, strengthening of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, increased resources for HIV/AIDS, mental wellness, and support for persons with disabilities. She has also worked to lower prescription drug prices and provide support to servicemembers, veterans, and military caregivers.

    During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pelosi’s leadership in Congress secured billions in resources for her community, aiding in COVID relief and recovery efforts. These resources have contributed to the creation of good-paying green union jobs, affordable housing, clean energy infrastructure, transportation justice, and the reopening of safe public schools.

    Furthermore, Pelosi emphasized the importance of a strong democracy at home and supporting diplomacy and allies globally to achieve a world at peace. She expressed her determination to defend democracy from threats, including attacks on the truth, the assault on the U.S. Capitol, and the erosion of voting rights.
