    The United States military has successfully test-launched a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The operation, conducted by the Air Force Global Strike Command, took place on Wednesday, September 6, at 1:26 a.m. PT.

    “An operational test launch of an Air Force Global Strike Command unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 1:26 a.m. PT, ” the press office of the Vandenberg Space Force Base said in a statement.

    The purpose of the ICBM test launch program is to validate and verify the safety, security, effectiveness, and readiness of the weapon system, according to Air Force Global Strike Command. 

    The test launch, which was confirmed by the US military’s press office, involved an unarmed Minuteman III ICBM. This event marks a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade the country’s strategic defense capabilities.
