In a recent statement issued by the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) in the UK, it has been revealed that a technical issue affecting the flight planning system has led to disruptions in air travel.

The issue, which was identified earlier today, has impacted the system’s ability to automatically process flight plans, necessitating manual processing and resulting in traffic flow restrictions, the agency said.

The fault had affected the system’s ability to automatically process flight plans, which means they had to be inputted manually by staff.

The NATS said that the authorities have been working diligently to rectify the situation, and their engineers are collaborating closely with airlines and airports to manage the flights affected by this disruption.

“Our priority is always to ensure that every flight in the UK remains safe, and we are sincerely sorry for the disruption this is causing,” NATS added.

“We are now working closely with airlines and airports to manage the flights affected as efficiently as possible,” it said in a statement.

“Our engineers will be carefully monitoring the system’s performance as we return to normal operations.”

The British Airlines issued a statement acknowledging severe disruptions to their flights due to a major issue with NATS Air Traffic Control in UK airspace. They have made significant schedule changes for the day and advise passengers on short-haul services for Monday, August 28, to check their flight status before heading to the airport. This can be done by visiting www.ba.com/managemybooking or checking their email inbox.

Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for information regarding the status of their flights and potential delays. The authorities express their sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused by this incident and assure the public that efforts are being made to return to normal operations as swiftly as possible.
