In a dramatic turn of events, Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, has successfully thwarted an audacious plot to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky through an air strike. The SBU disclosed that a collaborator, who was working to divulge the president’s whereabouts, had been apprehended just in time to prevent the perilous attack. The alleged informant’s efforts were part of a larger scheme orchestrated by Russia, aiming to launch a massive air strike on the southern Mykolaiv region during President Zelensky’s visit.

The SBU, through careful tracking and intelligence gathering, managed to intercept the plot before it could unfold, reinforcing security measures to safeguard President Zelensky during his trip to Mykolaiv. A spokeswoman for Ukraine’s armed forces hailed the operation as a success, describing it as an “aborted assassination attempt” that had been averted through strategic intervention.

The detained informant, identified as a former saleswoman from Ochakiv, Mykolaiv oblast, was diligently working to uncover the President’s tentative itinerary and timings for his visit to the region. The SSU, swift in their response, managed to intercept this crucial information and promptly bolstered security measures to safeguard the President’s safety.

The SSU’s investigation further exposed the extent of the spy’s assignments, revealing that she was instructed by Russian handlers to pinpoint the locations of Ukraine’s electronic warfare systems and ammunition depots near Ochakiv. These insidious efforts aimed to provide the occupiers with vital data for orchestrating a massive air strike on the region, posing a grave threat to the area’s stability.

In a commendable display of vigilance and precision, SSU operatives apprehended the traitor red-handed while attempting to pass on her gathered intelligence to the hostile forces. The suspect’s methods included infiltrating the target area to capture photographs and videos of Ukrainian facilities, as well as leveraging social connections to covertly gather sensitive information.

Upon her detainment, the suspect has been served a notice of suspicion under Article 114-2.3 of the CCU, pertaining to unauthorized dissemination of information related to weapons, ammunition, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ movements. The court has subsequently ruled for the suspect to be held in custody as a measure of restraint, as she now faces a potential prison sentence of up to 12 years.

The ongoing investigation, conducted by the SSU Office in Mykolaiv region under the supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office, aims to unravel the full extent of the informant’s actions and unveil any additional accomplices. This significant breakthrough serves as a testament to Ukraine’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its national security and thwarting hostile efforts aimed at destabilizing the country.
