Seven Palestinians have been reported dead as the Israeli army conducted a major military operation in the town of Jenin, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The operation involved approximately 100 Israeli military vehicles, including airstrikes, in the northern West Bank.

Violent clashes erupted between residents and Israeli forces, as reported by Palestinian media on Monday. Jenin, known for housing the large Jenin refugee camp, has become a stronghold for Palestinian militant factions. The city has witnessed frequent and deadly confrontations between militants and Israeli forces.

The security situation in Israel and the Palestinian territories has been tense, and recent events have further exacerbated the situation. A deadly attack by two Palestinians on four Israelis in the West Bank nearly two weeks ago triggered a wave of violence, with Israeli settlers engaging in repeated acts of aggression against Palestinians.

As a response, the Israeli army has conducted multiple raids in the West Bank, leading to ongoing clashes between Palestinian residents and Israeli soldiers. Since the beginning of the year, more than 130 Palestinians have lost their lives in confrontations with the Israeli military. During the same period, 22 Israelis, along with a Ukrainian woman and an Italian, have been killed in attacks.

The West Bank and East Jerusalem were seized by Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War. The Palestinians claim these territories for their own state, with East Jerusalem designated as its capital.

The Jenin refugee camp, also known as the Jenin camp, is a Palestinian refugee camp located in the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank. It was established in 1953 to house Palestinians who fled or were expelled from their homes during and in the aftermath of the 1948 Palestine War.
