Former US President Donald Trump has been arrested after surrendered to the authorities at the courthouse in Manhattan in the case of having an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels and then paying her to silence him.

He was then taken into custody by the New York Police where fingerprints and photographs will be taken. These will become part of the court and police records. After this he will be presented before the judge in the court room.

The arraignment, where Trump will be in court to hear charges and have a chance to enter a plea, was planned for 2:15 p.m.

Before this, Trump said on social media – We have to take back our country and make America great again. He also asked his supporters to donate money to his presidential campaign.

Trump posted on Truth Social while in a motorcade driving from his residence at Trump Tower to the courthouse.

“Heading to Lower Manhattan, the Courthouse. Seems so SURREAL — WOW, they are going to ARREST ME. Can’t believe this is happening in America. MAGA!” Trump wrote.

Videography will be banned during the hearing in Manhattan Court. Five groups of still photographers will be allowed to click photographs for a few minutes before the proceedings begin.

While giving the verdict, Judge Marchen said – For the first time in America, criminal charges will be imposed on a former President. In such a situation, we cannot take the risk of any dispute. No electronic device will be allowed in the courtroom. Strong security arrangements have been made in New York regarding Trump’s surrender.

Trump, 76, is the first sitting or former president to face criminal charges. He was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury last week in a case stemming from a 2016 hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels, though the specific charges have yet to be disclosed. Trump has said he is innocent and is due to plead not guilty.
