In a recent report, Islamic State has claimed responsibility for an attack in an eastern village in Congo that killed 10 people and wounded several others, according to the latest Reuters report, the group said on Telegram on Sunday.
“This is our first attack in Lubero province and it is an extension of IS operations,” the group wrote in a telegram post.
The actual number of dead and injured in the attack is yet to be ascertained.
More than 100,000 people have been displaced and dozens killed in an attack by armed groups in North Kivu province in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the United Nations said in a report on Wednesday.
