Just 11 minutes a day or 75 minutes a week of walking or moderate physical activity can help reduce the risk of many serious diseases, including heart disease and cancer. This is stated in new research led by the University of Cambridge. In a study published on Tuesday in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, researchers concluded that one in 10 cases of premature death could be prevented if everyone did half the amount of physical activity recommended by Britain’s National Health Service (NHS). Follow the advice.

Moderate physical activity reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer and the NHS recommends that adults do 75 minutes of moderate physical activity a week. Dr. is associated with the Medical Research Council (MRC) Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge. Soren Braz said, “Participating in some physical activity is better than doing nothing.” If you feel that you can do 75 minutes of physical activity in a week, then gradually you should increase the activity to the recommended level.

“If you are someone who finds the idea of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week a bit daunting, then our findings should be good news. Doing some physical activity is better than doing none” –

Heart diseases are the biggest cause of death
Cardiovascular diseases – such as heart disease and stroke – are the leading cause of death globally, responsible for 17.9 million deaths per year in 2019, while cancers were responsible for 9.6 million deaths in 2017. Physical activity – particularly when it is moderate-intensity – is known to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer, and the NHS recommends that adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity a week.

What counts as moderate-intensity physical activity?
Moderate-intensity physical activity raises your heart rate and makes you breathe faster, but you would still be able to speak during the activity. Examples include:

Brisk walking
Dancing
Riding a bike
Playing tennis
Hiking
