Pakistan has appealed to the international community to help the 33 million flood victims of the country affected by the recent floods. Stating that nearly 1,300 people have died due to floods, the government of Pakistan has asked the international community to help the 33 million people who are waiting for humanitarian aid.

Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal drew the attention of the international community on Saturday after the floods that came with continuous rains affected 33 million people, killed them and made them homeless. “I appeal to Pakistani expatriates and the international community to help Pakistan at this time of extreme scarcity,” he said in a press conference. According to the preliminary estimate of the government, the damage equal to 10 billion dollars has been caused by rain and flood.

Many officials and experts, including United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, have blamed climate change for the unusual rains and floods. Secretary General Guterres is visiting the flood-affected areas and meeting with government officials to learn about the situation in Pakistan next Friday.

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority said in its latest report on Saturday that 57 more people have died in the flood-affected areas. Since mid-June, 1,265 people, including 441 children, have died in floods caused by monsoon rains.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also received an immediate response to his call for help. As a result, various countries brought relief materials to Islam.
