A Russian airstrike has hit a nitric acid tank in Severodonetsk, local governor Serhiy Gaidai has said.

“Airstrike on Sievierodonetsk. The Russians hit a tank with nitric acid at a chemical plant. Effects on humans: nitric acid is dangerous if inhaled, swallowed, as well as in contact with skin and mucous membranes,” he wrote.

In a post on Telegram, Gaidai urged residents of the region to stay in shelters and prepare protective face masks soaked in a soda solution.
