Lhakpa Sherpa, a 48-year-old native Nepali female climber reached the summit of the world’s tallest Mt. Everest ( 8848.86 meter-high) for the tenth time Thursday, her hiking company Seven Summit Treak said.

According to her brother Mingma Gelu Sherpa, Lakpa had reached the top at 06:15 (00:30 GMT). Nepali tourism official Bhishma Kumar Bhattarai confirmed the report for Reuters news agency.

Lhakpa Sherpa who was born in Sankhuwasabha, Nepal is the only woman to successfully scale Mt. Everest 10th time in the world.

She is climbing mountains for women’s empowerment as she wants to inspire today’s youth and women. “I also want to prove that Nepali women are hardworking as well as determined and can do anything they want,” Lhakpa told the media.

In 2018 Lhakpa reached the summit of Mt Everest via North Col. She first climbed Mt Everest on September 18, 2000. She then became the first Nepali woman to summit Mount Everest.

A native of Nepal, Lakpa Sherpa lives in the U.S. with her three children in West Hartford, Connecticut.

This spring, the first summit was made on May 7.

Kami Rita Sherpa led a group of Sherpa climbers who fixed ropes along the route so that hundreds of other climbers and guides could make their way to the top of the mountain.

Kami Rita broke his own record by climbing Everest 26th time. Kami Rita had scaled Everest for the first time on May 13, 1994.
