Russia has banned UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson and mostly members of the Cabinet: Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and 10 other senior politicians and other senior ministers from entering Russia over the war in Ukraine.

According to a statement, Russia’s foreign ministry said: “London’s unbridled information and political campaign aimed at isolating Russia internationally, creating conditions for containing our country and strangling the domestic economy” were responsible for its decision.

“In essence, the British leadership is deliberately aggravating the situation around Ukraine, pumping the Kyiv regime with lethal weapons and coordinating similar efforts on the part of Nato,” Russia’s foreign ministry added.

The ministry said the decision had been made in retaliation to the UK’s sanctions against it since it invaded Ukraine.

The full list of the UK’s senior politicians:

    1. Prime Minister Boris Johnson
    2. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss
    3. Defence Secretary Ben Wallace
    4. Deputy Prime Minister, Lord Chancellor, and Secretary of State for Justice Dominic Raab
    5. Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps
    6. Home Secretary Priti Patel
    7. The Chancellor Rishi Sunak
    8. Minister of Entrepreneurship, Energy and Industrial Strategy Kwasi Kwarteng
    9. Minister of Digitalization, Culture, Media and Sport Nadine Dorries
    10. Minister for the Armed Forces James Heappey
    11. First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon
    12. Attorney General for England and Wales and advocate general for Northern Ireland Suella Braverman
    13. Conservative MP and former British Prime Minister Theresa May

The US and UK governments announced further sanctions on Russia earlier last week.
