EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell is shocked by the news about the crimes committed by the Russian military in Ukraine.

“I congratulate Ukraine on liberation of most of Kyiv region. Shocked by news of atrocities committed by Russian forces,” Borrell tweeted on Sunday.

He noted that the European Union is helping Ukraine document war crimes since all such cases must be considered, in particular, by the International Court of Justice.

The head of European diplomacy added that the EU will continue to provide strong support to Kyiv.

In turn, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, also said that he was shocked by the atrocities of the Russian military in Kyiv region, which he called the “Bucha massacre.”

“EU is assisting Ukraine & NGO’s in gathering of necessary evidence for pursuit in international courts. Further EU sanctions & support are on their way,” Michel said.
