At least one person was killed and another wounded in a shooting at a Fred Meyer grocery store in Richland, Washington Monday afternoon, police said.
The suspect was captured hours later on an interstate northeast of Richland, authorities said on Tuesday.
Aaron Christopher Kelly, 39, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting at a Fred Meyer grocery store in the southeastern city of Richland, Richland WA Police Department said in a statement.
“39-year-old Aaron Christopher Kelly has been taken into custody without incident. Kelly was arrested on Interstate 90 between Sprague and the City of Spokane, “Richland WA Police said in a statement. “ Kelly will be transported back to the Tri-Cities and booked into the Benton County Jail on Murder 1st Degree and Attempted Murder 1st Degree, “ it added.
“This shooting resulted in the death of 38-year-old Justin Krumbah. Investigators are continuing the search for Kelly to bring him into custody,” said the Richland Police Department in a statement on Monday night.
The shooting was reported on Monday morning, Richland Police said.
The Department said that a first-degree murder warrant has been issued for the suspect, who is believed to be driving a silver 2005 Honda Civic.
Authorities posted two photos of the suspect on social media and urged local residents with information to contact the police.
“Kelly should be considered armed and dangerous. Please do not approach him. Call 911 for an immediate police response,” the police department said in a Facebook post.
