A man was charged Tuesday with killing his four children and their grandmother over the weekend inside a home in northern Los Angeles County, California, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said.
Germarcus Lamar David of Lancaster was charged with five counts of murder and three counts of assault on a child causing death, said the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in a news release.
On November 28, David is accused of fatally shooting the victims at the family home in the 3500 block of Garnet Lane in Lancaster in northern Los Angeles County, according to the news release.
According to the release, the victims are 51-year-old Erika England.; 11-year-old Namyiah D.; 7-year-old Germarcus D. Jr.; 2-year-old Kayden D.; and 1-year-old Noah D.
“No family should endure this type of tragedy, especially when the alleged perpetrator was responsible for their protection,” District Attorney Gascón said in a release.
“Our office has reached out to the family to ensure they have all the services and support they need during this difficult time,” he added.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, added in the news release.
