The tractor rally called by the farmers against farm laws, which was supposed to be held on November 29, has been postponed, reported Indian media.

To observe one year of the anti-farm law agitation, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmers’ unions, had earlier this month announced that 500 farmers will participate in peaceful tractors marches to Parliament every day during the Winter Session starting November 29.

“After a meeting, Samyukt Kisan Morcha has decided to postpone the proposed tractor rally to Parliament on November 29,” Farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh said in a press conference, according to ANI media.

SKM leader Darshan Pal, while addressing a press conference, said, “We are suspending the Parliament march on Monday. We had written to the prime minister for withdrawal of cases against farmers, allotment of land for building a memorial for farmers who lost their lives (during the protest), suspension of Ajay Mishra ‘Teni’ from the Union Cabinet over the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, along with other issues.”

The farmers also cleared that if the Centre doesn’t agree on MSP, the protest will continue, according to outlets. “If the government doesn’t guarantee the MSP, the protest will continue.”

PM Modi had last week announced his government’s decision to withdraw the contentious laws.
