Former US President Donald Trump has asked a federal judge in Florida to reinstate his Twitter account.

Trump’s request for a preliminary injunction against Twitter was filed late on Friday in Miami, Florida, claiming the social media company canceled his account in January under pressure from his political rivals in Congress, the report by Bloomberg News said.

The filing claims Twitter canceled his account, which had some 80 million followers, due to pressure from his political rivals.

Twitter declined to comment. Trump’s representatives did not immediately respond to media outlets’ requests for comment.

In July, Trump sued Twitter, Facebook, and Google, as well as their chief executives, alleging they unlawfully silence conservative viewpoints.

Trump was banned from the site on January 8, “due to the risk of further incitement of violence,”  Twitter said at the time.

Trump was also locked out of Facebook and YouTube after being accused of inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol in Washington on January 6.
