The second explosion is reported outside Kabul airport at or near the Baron Hotel, Pentagon confirmed.
“We can confirm that the explosion at the Abbey Gate was the result of a complex attack that resulted in a number of US & civilian casualties. We can also confirm at least one other explosion at or near the Baron Hotel, a short distance from Abbey Gate. We will continue to update, ” said John Kirby, Assistant to the Secretary of Defense.
The first and second explosions killed at least 13 people and wounded another 15, AP reported.
The explosions happened outside the airport where huge crowds of desperate people continued to gather at Kabul airport on Thursday, despite Western governments raising increasing fears about the risk of terrorist attacks.
