(Maryland-GNB): One of the largest Powerball jackpots in history, where the single winning ticket was sold one month ago in Maryland has yet to be claimed!

Over a month has gone by and no one has come forward to claim for the January drawing.

The lucky ticket, over $731 million, was sold at Coney Market in Lonaconing, located in Allegany County in northwestern Maryland.

Winners waiting for the right time to cash in on their winnings is really nothing new, according to the gaming officials.

In Maryland, winners have the right to remain anonymous.

In Maryland, winners typically have 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. If the ticket expires during Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency it can still be claimed for up until 30 days after the state of emergency ends, officials say.

If the jackpot isn’t claimed, each jurisdiction in Maryland would get its jackpot contribution back, according to the state’s regulation. The money would be used according to each jurisdiction’s rules regarding unclaimed prizes.
