A strong 7.5 magnitude of earthquake struck northern Peru early on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake struck at a depth of more than 100 km (60 miles), limiting the shaking level.
There were no immediate reports of injury or damage’s from the quake, which was felt as far away as the capital, Lima.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said in a tweet the quake occurred in a very sparsely populated region of the Amazon rainforest.
Local media in Amazonas report the collapse of the tower of the Jalca Grande temple of colonial origin, located in the district of La Jalca, Amazonas province. They also report that several provinces have no electricity service.
The U.S. Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning after the quake.
