At least 3 persons were killed and several others were injured in a shooting attack that took place in Central Paris on Friday.
A 69-year-old man has been detained by officials for open firing on a street in the 10th arrondissement of the French capital, Reuter reported. The shooter’s motives were not immediately clear.
On Twitter, Paris Police said an operation was ongoing, urging the public to avoid the area.
Local media reported that the shooting took place in the vicinity of a Kurdish cultural centre in Paris’ 10th arrondissement or district.
The area in Paris where the attack took place is a busy neighborhood with shops, restaurants and bars. As a result, it was filled with tourists and other people when the shooting took place.
Anne Hidalgo, the Mayor of Paris, conveyed his condolences to the victims and thanked the police for their “decisive” intervention during the “terrible attack”.
