A shooting incident was reported at a Sikh Gurudwara in Stockton, California. As per reports, the Stockton Police Department responded to the reports of the shooting at around 6:40 PM ET on Saturday.
They found three victims upon arriving at the scene. The injured, that reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries, were transferred to a hospital by the first respondents.
Local news station KCRA reported that the Stockton Police Department responded to shots fired at a Sikh temple in Stockton, California, on Saturday night.
KTLA-TV quoted Public information officer Joe Silva saying that the incident occurred at an event around Sikh Temple Street. However, the officer said the shooting incident was not linked to the Gurudwara and did not happen on the property of the Gurudwara.
The Police have said that the suspects and the victims are all Sikhs. As per the statement issued by the Gurudwara, a weightlifting competition was held on the Gurudwara property before the altercation. The Gurudwara event happened successfully without any incident.
The temple said in a press release that the shooting is not believed to be connected to the place of worship. It added that it did not take place on the property of the Sikh Temple nor was it related to a weightlifting event that was held at the time.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and did not release additional information about the incident.
