Two Airlines nearly collided with each other at JFK Airport, New York on Friday when American Airlines was crossing a runway while Delta Airlines was preparing for takeoff.
Federal aviation and transportation (FAA) open an investigation.
Delta’s Boeing 737 carrying 145 passengers and six crew members was headed to the Dominican Republic from New York. The 137 passengers and 14 crew members on board American’s Boeing 777 were flying to the United Kingdom.
The air traffic control immediately noticed the potential collusion and immediately ordered the Delta plane to abort take-off.
“(Expletive)! Delta 1943, cancel takeoff clearance! Delta 1943, cancel takeoff clearance!” an air controller said in an audio recording of Air Traffic Control communications when he noticed the other plane, operated by American Airlines, crossing in front. The recording was made by LiveATC, a website that monitors and posts flight communications.
The Delta Air Lines 737 came to a safe stop on Runway 4-Left after air traffic controllers noticed the American Airlines 777 crossing the runway.
