Ordos, Inner Mongolia: A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday in the city of Ordos, north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, as a high-pressure gas spurt claimed the lives of ten workers and injured three others. The incident was confirmed during a local press briefing held on Friday.
The incident occurred at around 4 p.m. Thursday, when a high-pressure gas spurt caused multiple workers to fall from their elevated positions, the emergency management bureau of Ordos said, reported the Xinhua news agency.
Local emergency management workers, firefighters and medical personnel rushed to the scene and carried out rescue operations.
Zhang Jianping, an official of the city’s health commission, said at the conference that the three injured workers have been stabilized and are now in safe conditions.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation, according to China’s state news agency Xinhua.
